In this article, we will cover Viktor’s shipping scenario and will configure shipping rates based on the product weight using the WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping Pro plugin.

WooCommerce provides some interesting features to calculate shipping rates. However, there is not a lot that can be configured using WooCommerce’s built-in features. Sometimes, store owners may require customizing their shipping rates based on factors like weight, quantity, or even the price of the products. In such scenarios, the WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping plugin is one of the most advanced shipping plugins that can achieve almost any shipping calculation.

According to Viktor, a WooCommerce store owner, “…We have both Shipments (normal and priority) on the following weight categories,

  • CH Packet normal 0.001 to 1.999 kg CHF 5.00
  • CH Packet priority 0.001 to 1.999 kg CHF 8.00
  • CH Packet normal 0.001 to 1.999 kg CHF 10.00
  • CH Packet priority 2.000 to 9.999 kg CHF 12.50
  • CH Packet normal 10.000 to 19.999 kg CHF 12.00
  • CH Packet priority 10.000 to 19.999 kg CHF 14.00
  • CH Packet normal 20.000 to 29.999 kg CHF 23.00
  • CH Packet priority 20.000 to 29.999 kg CHF 27.00

Is there a way to configure these settings..? Also, can I configure settings such that the customer can choose the delivery either normal or priority..?

Creating Shipping Rules

Viktor’s shipping scenario can be easily configured using the WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping Pro plugin. What Viktor needs is that his shipping must be based on the weight of the products added to the cart. Based on these requirements, he needs to select the following Matrix Columns from the Settings tab under the plugin settings.

  • Method Title
  • Weight
  • Rates Based On
  • Base Cost

Also, he needs to select the calculation mode to Per Order and then save the settings. Once this is done, he can easily create his shipping rules in the Shipping Rules tab in the plugin settings. The image below shows Viktor’s shipping rules based on his requirements.
