How to block Saturdays and Sundays for Delivery and Shipping in the US using WooCommerce Estimated Delivery Date plugin?Ujjawal Shirkot
Different countries have different official working days. For example, Saturdays and Sundays are non-working days in the US. This means there are no shipping carriers that ship or deliver during Saturdays and Sundays. However, in such cases, WooCommerce store owners based in the US need some way of blocking deliveries and shipments on those days. According to Jane, a WooCommerce store owner, “…I’m trying to block Saturday and Sunday from the workdays and shipping days since we’re closed on those days and same is FedEx. I tried adding a holiday, but I don’t think that this is the right way to add 104 holidays in a whole year…All shipping carriers here in the USA, on regular basis, aren’t working on Saturday and Sunday, so there’s no shipping and delivery on Saturday and Sundays. Is there a way to block both those days as ‘No Ship and Delivery’ days..? Please advise. Thanks.”
In this article, we will be covering WooCommerce Estimated Delivery Date plugin and how you can block certain days from both shipping as well as delivery.
Adding Working Days
WooCommerce Estimated Delivery Date plugin has a dedicated field to add the working days of the week. This way you don’t need to add every day of the week as a working day, again and again. Since Jane requires Saturdays and Sundays not to be available for both shipping and delivery, the only working days will be from Monday to Friday. This way, by default the Saturday and Sunday will be taken as holidays. The image below shows the option to add working days under plugin settings.
Now, the last step includes, setting the Calculation Mode from the plugin settings. Since Jane want these days to be a holiday for both the store as well as the customers, she needs to set the mode to Consider holiday for Shipper and Recipient. The image below shows the option where it can be configured in plugin settings.
